Senior Diesel Technician
About the role
We are seeking two to three highly skilled, proven Senior Diesel Technicians (Journeyman / Tech 1). As a Senior Diesel Technician at W.W. Williams, you will be the tech the shop calls when nobody else can find it: owning the hardest diagnostic work in the building, getting repairs right the first time, and helping junior technicians grow. This is a full-time, day-shift, on-site position. This is not an entry-level job; if you're still building your skills, please apply to our Diesel Technician posting instead. You'll focus on the work you're good at — no-starts, intermittent electrical, aftertreatment and drivability — acting as the diagnostician, not the oil-change bay. There's no starting at the bottom and earning your way back up.
Responsibilities
- Own the toughest diagnostic jobs in the shop on fleet customers' Detroit, Cummins and Allison-powered trucks.
- Diagnose, repair, road test and document repairs to get it right the first time.
- Serve as the go-to technician who helps junior techs get unstuck.
Requirements
- 7+ years as a journeyman / Tech 1 on Class 6–8 trucks.
- ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certified (full T2–T8 series).
- OEM certifications: Detroit (DTNA), Allison and/or Cummins.
- Strong electronic diagnostics: DiagnosticLink, Cummins INSITE, Allison DOC, laptop-based troubleshooting.
- Engine, aftertreatment (DPF/SCR), electrical and transmission repair, from diagnosis to road test.
- Your own professional tool set and a valid driver's license (CDL-A a plus).
Pay
Top-of-scale pay from day one, plus overtime.
