About the role
Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, and biopsy ultrasound procedures under supervision, collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to ensure accurate imaging and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conducts ultrasound studies, biopsies, and aspirations; positions patients; reviews orders; and maintains detailed records.
- Prepares patients and equipment, adheres to safety protocols, and ensures proper sterilization and supply management.
- Assists radiologists during procedures, captures images, and processes ultrasound data for interpretation.
- Provides patient education, maintains a compassionate approach, and supports patient safety and confidentiality.
- Operates ultrasound equipment, reports malfunctions, and ensures optimal image quality.
- Participates in departmental meetings, ongoing education, and mentoring of new staff and students.
- Assumes responsibilities during emergency responses and maintains a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of post-graduate sonography experience or completion of an approved ultrasound training program.
- Certification as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and BLS certification.
Skills
- Preferred skills include experience in general, breast, vascular, and obstetric imaging, with relevant certifications.
