About the Role

Our client is an established enterprise software company undergoing a major modernization effort across its infrastructure, cloud platforms, and software delivery processes. As the organization continues to invest in cloud-native technologies, automation, and modern DevOps practices, they are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to build scalable platforms, improve developer productivity, and drive operational excellence. This highly visible, hands-on role involves owning engineering environments, CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, and infrastructure automation while partnering closely with cloud operations and software engineering teams. You'll influence technical direction, introduce modern tooling, and solve complex deployment challenges across both cloud-hosted and customer-managed environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain development, QA, staging, and performance testing environments
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and environment lifecycle management
  • Develop and maintain deployment tooling for both cloud and customer-hosted environments
  • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and deployment workflows
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve software delivery, deployment reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Support production issues alongside cloud operations teams and participate in root cause analysis
  • Build monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions across engineering environments
  • Design and execute performance, load, and scalability testing
  • Improve infrastructure security and support compliance initiatives
  • Research, evaluate, and implement modern DevOps technologies and automation tools
  • Create technical documentation, operational runbooks, and deployment guides
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting production systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Deep Linux administration and troubleshooting experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
  • Experience with Docker and containerized application deployments
  • Experience supporting on-premises software deployments and customer environments
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TLS, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing
  • Experience with Git-based source control workflows
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
  • Terraform, Ansible, or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, or RabbitMQ
  • Load and performance testing using tools such as k6, JMeter, or Locust
  • Experience with Kubernetes management tools such as K9s or Headlamp
  • Familiarity with DigitalOcean environments
  • Experience supporting SOC 2 or similar compliance initiatives
  • Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-400, or similar)
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude
