Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned DevOps Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this role will focus on infrastructure and operations, aiming to reduce incidents, improve observability, and enhance security.

Responsibilities

• Own our infrastructure and make it reproducible through infrastructure-as-code discipline.
• Build and mature observability tools including meaningful dashboards, alerting, and tracing.
• Tame background processing and give visibility and control over job queues.
• Lead concrete security improvements and streamline enterprise security questionnaires.
• Answer security and infrastructure questions from clients and prospective clients.
• Manage our Aurora MySQL fleet and ensure reliable database operations.
• Improve CI/CD processes and make deployments safe and reversible.
• Work on improving reliability and incident response, establishing runbooks, and conducting post-incident reviews.
• Monitor costs and right-size infrastructure spend.
• Pitch in as needed, including occasional application code review and off-hours maintenance.

Requirements

• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, platform, or infrastructure roles, owning production systems for live customers.
• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS (Aurora MySQL, S3, etc.) and PaaS deployment models (Heroku).
• Strong CI/CD pipeline experience (CircleCI).
• Solid observability skills (monitoring, alerting, tracing).
• Experience with MySQL/Aurora.
• Refined security instincts (secrets management, access control, vulnerability management).
• Experience with SOC 2.
• Comfortable with and around applications and background job systems.
• Excellent written communication and autonomy.

Qualifications

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• Experience migrating workloads without downtime.
• Experience supporting B2B SaaS with third-party integrations.
• Experience standing up SOC 2 Type II at a small company.

Skills

• Hands-on experience with AWS and Heroku.
• Strong observability and security skills.
• Comfortable with application code.
• Ability to eliminate toil and automate repetitive tasks.

Pay

$130k - $170k, plus equity options.
