About the role

NVIDIA’s Developer Technology team is seeking a Senior Developer Technology Engineer to research new algorithms and memory management techniques that accelerate databases on modern computer architectures. You will investigate hardware and system bottlenecks, optimize data-intensive applications, and work on the leading edge of technology with visibility and impact across NVIDIA’s products and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop techniques to GPU-accelerate high-performance database and ETL applications
  • Work directly with technical experts in industry and academia to analyze and optimize complex data-intensive workloads for best performance on current GPU architectures
  • Influence the design of next-generation hardware architectures, software, and programming models in collaboration with NVIDIA’s research, hardware, system software, libraries, and tools teams

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related computationally focused science (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5+ years of relevant work or research experience
  • Programming fluency in C/C++ with deep understanding of algorithms and software design
  • Hands-on experience with low-level parallel programming (e.g., CUDA, OpenACC, OpenMP, MPI, pthreads, TBB)
  • In-depth expertise with CPU/GPU architecture fundamentals, especially the memory subsystem
  • Domain expertise in high-performance databases, ETL, and data analytics
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively

Qualifications

  • Experience optimizing distributed database systems and frameworks (e.g., production databases or Spark)
  • Background with compression, storage systems, networking, and distributed computer architectures

What you’ll do as a DevTech Engineer

  • Collaborate with external technologists to investigate application performance, design parallel algorithms, and implement GPU-accelerated optimizations
  • Publish findings in developer blogs or at conferences and workshops as a recognized expert in the field
  • Represent NVIDIA to customers, industry, and academia, contributing application insights that influence next-generation hardware and software
  • Solve critical problems, deepen expertise, expand knowledge, and work across domains and organizations

Pay

Base salary ranges: Level 3 – $152,000 – $241,500 USD; Level 4 – $184,000 – $287,500 USD (determined by location, experience, and internal equity). Equity and benefits are also provided.
