Community Manager
About the role
As a Community Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping 1Password's public community interactions for a new era of developer engagement. You will build and manage communities on various platforms, fostering conversations and ensuring the health of our public repositories.
Responsibilities
- Engage in technical conversations and discussions on platforms like LinkedIn, X, Reddit, and other public channels to generate awareness of 1Password's developer tools.
- Create and maintain welcoming, engaging, and productive spaces for our developer community to gather, talk, and connect with us and each other, including in our community Slack, on GitHub, and on social media.
- Cultivate close relationships with 1Password developer tools users and support them in talking about 1Password in public at events and online.
- Synthesize feedback and conversations with community members and partners into actionable insights for 1Password, and surface them to product teams.
- Nucleate communities at scale by building tools and training to help other 1Password employees engage effectively with the community.
- Create developer programs that incentivize peer help, code contribution, public content, online discussion, and other user-generated engagement.
- Maximize the impact of targeted, high-investment activities by reusing assets as broadly as possible.
Requirements
- Technical Familiarity: 5+ years in technical roles including software or platform engineering, community management, support, solution engineering, or other fields.
- Community Leadership: Experience engaging in sensitive and complex community situations, in public online and in person, with humility, empathy, judgment, tact, and humor.
- Communication: A clear written and verbal communication style. Good at listening and talking. Communicates clearly and kindly on social media, and skillfully on GitHub and in project trackers.
- Organizing: Proven experience organizing in person and online events, asynchronous projects, or long-running cross-functional efforts. Identifies and addresses dependencies and thinks about point in time events from an attendee perspective.
- Advocating: Experience listening for insights, requests, and opportunities in technical conversations, compiling those insights into actionable feedback, and advocating for it to be implemented within your organization.
Qualifications
- Experience managing online communities and engaging with developers and tech enthusiasts.
- Strong understanding of modern development workflows and patterns.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Experience with social media platforms and community management tools.
- Knowledge of AI and its integration into software development processes.

Pay
The annual base salary for this role is between $133,000 USD and $186,000 USD for USA-based roles, and between $125,000 CAD and $162,500 CAD for Canada-based roles.
Schedule
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
