Senior Developer
About the role
This position assumes total responsibility for the successful development of the full spectrum of real estate development projects. The Senior Developer leads an in-house team of Developers, Associate Developers and Administrative Assistants, while simultaneously overseeing multiple projects in varying stages of development. The role requires weighing numerous choices during the development process and making responsible decisions aligned with the long-term interests of the company and the community. Strong financial skills, creative thinking, leadership, and effective communication are essential.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate real estate development opportunities
- Determine financial feasibility of viable projects based on significant prior experience
- Assess site suitability
- Provide final review of professional RFPs and RFQs prior to submission
- Establish strong public-private partnerships
- Deliver PowerPoint presentations to financiers, municipalities, and community constituents, including potentially skeptical or adverse groups
- Analyze project budgets quickly and thoroughly
- Command the land-development approval process
- Assemble and lead a superior development team
- Manage all legal aspects of development and financing
- Direct architects and engineers in designing proposed developments
- Determine realistic project schedules
- Assume total responsibility for all financial aspects of each development
- Negotiate with contractors and other professionals to build proposed developments
- Manage projects efficiently through superior team management to deliver on-time, on-budget real estate development projects
- Oversee lease-up of completed developments with full flow of limiting criteria information
- Monitor the in-house development team with a systematic approach
- Balance internal staff opinions with external participants in a timely and diplomatic manner
- Direct workload and priorities of all development team members
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Concrete entrepreneurial mindset
- Solid analytical skills based on dozens of previous similar circumstances
- Superior ability to sell ideas through exceptional verbal and written communication
- Confidence in delivering on-message PowerPoint presentations before potentially contentious groups
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Discretion in handling confidential information
- Ability to work under pressure while exercising sound judgment
- Unyielding work ethic and exceptionally high work standards
- Maturity, superlative judgment, and professionalism
- At least four years’ experience as a Developer or equivalent position
- Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and ability to travel
Working Conditions
- Ability to work periodic flexible hours
- Ability to travel by plane and automobile
- Ability to work at property locations within or near transitional neighborhoods
- Ability to climb stairs, use elevators, bend, squat, and reach overhead
Pay
$165,000 – $175,000/year + bonus depending on experience. Eligible for an uncapped performance-based bonus program tied to individual and company results.
