Senior Desktop Engineer

About the role
The Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for managing and supporting desktop systems and infrastructure within the firm. This role requires expertise in desktop operating systems, software deployment, system administration, and advanced troubleshooting. The Senior Desktop Engineer collaborates with stakeholders to ensure stability, security, and optimal performance of desktop systems while providing technical guidance and support to end-users.
Responsibilities
- Manage modern endpoint lifecycle including provisioning, enrollment, compliance, updates, and retirement
- Configure and support modern endpoint technologies
- Administer Microsoft 365 applications and endpoint policies
- Deploy software, security updates, and configuration baselines using cloud and on-premises management platforms
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate endpoint administration and reporting
- Implement and manage Group Policy, Intune Configuration Profiles, and Security Baselines
- Monitor endpoint health, compliance, and performance using Microsoft Endpoint Analytics and other reporting tools
- Troubleshoot complex desktop, application, and endpoint management issues across physical and virtual devices
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot desktop hardware and peripherals
- Provide Tier 3 technical support for workstation, operating system, and endpoint-related incidents
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and enforce desktop security measures and policies
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to desktop systems, software, and hardware
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in desktop engineering, recommending innovative solutions
- Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures and knowledge base articles
- Collaborate with vendors and external partners to evaluate and implement new desktop technologies and solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in desktop engineering, system administration, or a related role
- Strong knowledge of desktop operating systems, software deployment, and system administration
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to desktop systems
- Experience with system performance analysis and optimization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Pay
The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents the starting salary range at the time of posting. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate will be determined based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity.
- Boston: $134,700 - $205,450
- New York: $145,800 - $222,350

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development, and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
