Immediate opening for a senior-level Marine Designer specializing in Naval HVAC, located at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA.
About the role
Seeking a Marine Designer experienced in Naval HVAC to support the Habitability Improvement Program through ship-checks, design, and drawing development.
Responsibilities
- Survey/Ship-check and document conditions on-board NAVY surface ships to facilitate complete and accurate Ship Installation Drawing development.
- Design HVAC systems using ship-checks, as-builts, standards, reference material, and vendor information.
- Develop Ship Installation Drawings in AutoCAD, ensuring technical completeness, accuracy, and readiness for issue with minimal review.
- Interpret and apply technical correspondence, specifications, and manuals.
- Draft technical correspondence.
- Communicate information and changes to multi-discipline programs to ensure a composite Ship Installation Drawing package.
- Provide design support per customer-defined requirements, including developing removal and installation drawings in their entirety using AutoCAD.
- Ensure all drawings conform to or incorporate industry-accepted standards.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- US Navy or shipyard-related experience required.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing, communication skills, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to work onboard ships and in shipyards for approximately 10% of the time.
- Willingness to travel approximately 5% to 10% of the time (local, national, and international).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must have a Secret Security Clearance.

$45 per hour with benefits.
