Senior Designer, Gabby’s Dollhouse [Contract]
About the role
This Senior Designer role is a contract position that will primarily support Gabby’s Dollhouse. You will utilize your trend expertise, aesthetic eye, and strong character sketching abilities to design magical products and execute design direction for this iconic Preschool brand. This role is 4 days per week in our Los Angeles office.
Responsibilities
- Participate in product brainstorming at all stages of development
- Participate in concept development for existing brands and new areas of expansion
- Create 2-D renderings and specifications, and oversee 3-D model making for developing product through to production
- Assess the feasibility of design concepts (e.g., cost, schedule, manufacturability, safety)
- Liaise closely with Marketing, Quality Assurance, Visual Branding, and Product Development teams during the product’s life cycle
- Create compelling presentations and pitches to the executive level of the organization
- Participate in product strategy development and the creation of innovative slots and rationale for existing brands
Requirements
- Ideation: Conceptualization - can participate in group brainstorming and starts to generate ideas on their own and become familiar with the toy industry and category.
- Play Pattern Development: Understands a good play pattern within a category, consumer isle, or pillar.
- Sketching: Can create rough sketches for communicating ideas.
- Specification Documenting: Can create specifications and document product for DDS and PRP release.
- Model Development: Starting to learn the many different model development processes; Can either create CAD, sketches, or specifications to kick off 3D prints.
- Visual Communication: Can create visual presentations using appropriate software.
Qualifications
- Experience in the toy industry and category.
- Strong trend expertise and aesthetic eye.
- Strong character sketching abilities.
- Ability to create 2-D renderings and specifications.
- Experience in 3-D model making and overseeing the process.
- Understanding of feasibility assessments (cost, schedule, manufacturability, safety).
- Experience liaising with cross-functional teams.
- Experience creating presentations and pitches.
- Experience in product strategy development and innovative slot creation.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in Los Angeles is $40.00 to $45.00 Per Hour. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
