About the company

Chelsea Piers offers unmatched facilities, excellent benefits, and proven career growth opportunities for people who are passionate about transforming the lives of our community through sports, fitness, and event experiences. With four locations in NYC and growing, Chelsea Piers Fitness is redefining the luxury fitness experience. We are a community built on Empowerment, Purpose, Transformation, and Community.

About the role

We're looking for an intermediate-level Architect / Designer to support interior projects across our facilities—from renovations of existing athletic and event spaces to build-outs for new programming. This role works closely with the development and construction teams to move projects from concept through construction, with hands-on responsibility for concept design, drawings, and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Develop interior design concepts and space plans for interior fit-out projects across Chelsea Piers facilities.
  • Prepare and coordinate drawings, specifications, and finish schedules using AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
  • Collaborate with leadership team, project managers, and facility operations staff to carry design intent through to construction or to handoff to external consultants.
  • Research and select materials, finishes, furniture, and fixtures suited to high-traffic athletic and event environments.
  • Assist with project budgets, schedules, and coordination with vendors and contractors.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and drawing sets throughout each project phase.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally including interior architecture or interior design projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp required.
  • Strong sense of interior design and space planning—able to turn around studies informed by site constraints, design goals, and cost.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and construction documentation standards.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple projects at once.
  • Experience with sports, fitness, hospitality, or other high-traffic commercial interiors is a plus.
  • Professional licensure (RA) or progress toward licensure is a plus, though not required at this level.

Benefits

Excellent benefits package provided.
