About the role
We are seeking a Senior Design Manager to support delivery of a nationally significant coastal resilience and flood protection program. Based in Houston, this role provides senior leadership across all design phases for a complex, multi-billion dollar infrastructure program delivered using Design Build and Progressive Design Build models. The Senior Design Manager leads multi-disciplinary teams, manages engineering partners, and works closely with construction teams to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible design solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead design development for large scale flood gate, marine, and heavy civil infrastructure
- Integrate civil, structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, marine, and environmental designs
- Manage design execution, schedules, budgets, and phased deliverables
- Collaborate with construction partners on constructability, sequencing, and risk reduction
- Oversee design subconsultants to ensure quality, coordination, and performance
- Champion BIM enabled and digital delivery approaches
- Communicate with clients, regulators, and stakeholders on design progress and technical decisions
- Mentor and develop engineers while fostering a collaborative and safety focused culture
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, Master’s preferred
- 15 or more years of experience delivering major infrastructure design projects
- Proven leadership on Design Build or alternative delivery projects valued at $500 million or more
- Experience with marine infrastructure, ports, heavy civil works, and large MEICA systems
- Strong experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and external partners
- Hands-on experience with BIM and digital engineering tools
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Highly organized with strong problem solving and decision making ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer licensure
- Experience with flood gates or storm surge barrier systems

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $144,600.00 to $225,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Hybrid working policy, allowing employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
