Triangle DeCon Services Inc. is a boutique full-service real estate advisory firm specializing in project development and construction management for private developers and public organizations in Southern California. Our team includes licensed Professional Engineers (PE), certified Project Management Professionals (PMP), Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) professionals, licensed General Building Contractors, and other industry experts. We provide entitlement, development, design, procurement, construction management, project management, expert witness, and litigation support services across various building types for clients such as public school districts, college districts, universities, commercial developers, hospitality owners, and multinational CM/PM consultants.

About the role

This full-time position supports the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), leading multiple facilities projects with a focus on seismic, critical repair, and retrofit work. The Senior Design Manager – A/E M&O manages architects, engineers, consultants, and design teams to ensure projects meet District standards, budgets, schedules, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manages multiple projects with particular emphasis on seismic, critical repair, and retrofit projects.
• Manages and supervises a team of design professionals through the design review process.
• Manages, develops, and coordinates the District's design process for A&E services to ensure design plans meet functional program, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements.
• Manages multiple projects, including engineering repair and critical repair, through interaction with Architects, consultants, and District personnel to ensure timely completion.
• Oversees the building design process to ensure compliance with LAUSD's standards and guidelines, working with design professionals and District administrators to meet educational and building standards.
• Establishes and follows a process to identify and select the architectural firm best suited for each project based on qualifications and performance standards.
• Provides Architects with clear and consistent direction regarding goals, objectives, standards, sites, schedules, and budgets for each project.
• Establishes and follows an effective design review process to ensure designs meet overall project goals and objectives.
• Ensures maximum value for budgeted dollars, delivering appropriate and enduring solutions to meet the functional needs of the District, local community, and environment.
• Reviews design changes to ensure projects remain within budget.
• Monitors project planning and design status to report findings, recommendations, and updates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 14 years of full-time paid professional experience managing facilities design or the planning and coordination of capital projects, including overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities.
• 4 years of this experience must be with the design, planning, and construction of educational facilities or similar public agencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering from a recognized college or university.
• Master’s degree in architecture or engineering (preferred).
• Valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (preferred).
