Senior Design Manager
This role oversees the design and delivery of large-scale corporate workplace and retail wealth management projects for a key financial client account, ensuring environments are innovative, functional, and aligned with business goals.
About the role
The Senior Workplace Design Manager will lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with internal and external partners, and manage all aspects of design from concept to implementation to create future-forward workplaces that meet the needs of employees and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a strong connector and leader with executive presence, capable of managing client expectations and delivering brand-centric, consistent solutions across the portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design management of large corporate workplace projects, ensuring adherence to design standards, budget, and timelines.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client regarding design-related matters.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (real estate, workplace strategy, workplace experience, property management, sustainability, corporate security, brand, and technology) to develop design concepts that support business needs.
- Manage relationships with external design firms, architects, consultants, and contractors, ensuring effective communication and high-quality project delivery.
- Oversee design phases (schematic design, design development, and construction documentation) to ensure alignment with corporate standards and sustainability initiatives.
- Provide leadership in space planning, interior design, and furniture selection to foster productivity, employee well-being, and innovation while aligning with client design standards.
- Oversee the client’s design review process to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines, accessibility standards, and building codes.
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and construction teams during construction to maintain design intent.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in workplace design, applying innovative solutions to meet evolving needs.
- Partner with the construction manager to oversee project budgets, schedules, and procurement processes related to design activities.
- Conduct post-occupancy evaluations and feedback loops for continuous improvement of workplace environments.
- Travel approximately 20% to other corporate locations as necessary.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience working on commercial interior design projects, preferably for large organizations or financial institutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Excellent project management capabilities with experience in end-to-end execution of major commercial interior design fit-out projects.
- Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Solid knowledge of strategies that leverage AI-related skillsets to optimize workflows.
- Ability to guide and intercept planning strategies effectively.
- Experience managing design projects involving complex technology integration and hybrid workplace strategies.
- Familiarity with WELL Building Standards, LEED certification, or other sustainability frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of workplace trends, space planning, inclusive design, sustainability practices, and building systems.
- Knowledge of local building codes, ADA requirements, and other regulatory standards.

Schedule
Expected to work within the East Coast time zone. Some travel (approximately 20%) required to other corporate locations as necessary.
