Senior Design Engineer - Hand Tools

About the role

The Senior Design Engineer serves as the chief technical resource and mechanical engineering leader on mid- to high-complexity Hand Tool New Product Development projects. This role leverages advanced engineering expertise and project management skills to drive the design and development of new products while supporting existing ones.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical resource and mechanical engineering leader for new product development projects.
• Contribute to user-focused discussions to drive performance based on empathy and feedback.
• Provide clear engineering information to Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams to facilitate trade-off decisions.
• Establish test regimens for components and assemblies with minimal guidance, delivering complete data analysis to support design recommendations.
• Prioritize impactful work by effectively utilizing available resources.
• Serve as a technical resource in areas of expertise, providing consultation and mentorship to others.
• Execute a wide variety of calculations and software-aided analyses, including:
  • Mechanical stress analysis
  • Tolerance stack analyses
  • Mechanism development and analysis

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of design experience.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or similar).
• Strong experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Deep mechanical aptitude, including broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international).
• High interest in tools used in the automotive, aircraft, or marine mechanic trades.
