About the role
Design, develop and test AC induction and brushless DC (BLDC) electric motors for high-performance fans, blowers and cooling systems.
Support new designs, continuous improvements and engineering changes across the product family.
Develop and technically review drawings, BOMs, test plans and reports, and approve them.
Provide technical support to Marketing/Sales, Production and Program Management.
Support warranty and product failure reviews, documenting corrective actions.
Evaluate and test materials, parts and overall product performance.
Translate technical information into clear terms for the build and test teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test AC induction and brushless DC (BLDC) electric motors for high-performance fans, blowers and cooling systems
- Support new designs, continuous improvements and engineering changes across the product family
- Develop and technically review drawings, BOMs, test plans and reports, and approve them
- Provide technical support to Marketing/Sales, Production and Program Management
- Support warranty and product failure reviews, documenting corrective actions
- Evaluate and test materials, parts and overall product performance
- Translate technical information into clear terms for the build and test teams
Requirements
- BS and/or MS in Electrical, Mechanical or a related engineering discipline
- 8+ years' relevant experience within an AS9100 quality system manufacturer
- Motor design experience and test support for high-performance cooling fans, blowers or similar equipment
- Expert command of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Expertise in stator and rotor assemblies, motor assembly and subcomponents
- Strong foundation in electromagnetics, including single- and three-phase AC induction motors and pulse-width-modulated brushless DC (BLDC) motors
- Materials knowledge across electrical steel, magnets, housings, copper and aluminium
- An excellent communicator, able to work independently and as part of a team, and to summarise and present work to management and cross-functional teams
- Proficient across Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
Qualifications
- Desirable: Military and commercial aerospace experience
- Magnetic FEA solver and SPEED motor design software
- Ansys Motor-CAD analysis software
Skills
