About the role

Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Senior Design Engineer in Los Alamos, NM. The organization partners with clients to advance clean energy and deliver effective solutions for complex challenges in the nuclear and environmental fields. The position supports the Plutonium Facilities Engineering Rapid Response Team.

Responsibilities

• Supports facility design, operation, and maintenance within assigned engineering discipline.
• Performs complex engineering analyses and provides construction and project support.
• May lead projects and supervise the work of others.
• Utilizes engineering technology to accomplish work.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university with a minimum of 9 years of practical work experience.
• Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired.
• Knowledge of industry, regulatory, or DOE/NNSA complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to engineering discipline.
• Experience in design package development and common engineering design document deliverables.
• Experience in using common computer aided drafting software or mark-up software.
• Ability to receive and hold a DOE Q clearance and participate in HRP.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required.

Skills

• Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory, or DOE/NNSA complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to engineering discipline.
• Proven knowledge of applicable codes and standards in common use at DOE and DOD facilities.
• Senior-level understanding of common engineering design document deliverables.
• Experience in the use of common computer aided drafting software or mark-up software.
