About the role
This position provides assistance to dental professionals, maintains office files, and performs various clinical and clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintains office files and patient records.
- Aids patients in filling out necessary documents for federal and state assistance.
- Verifies patient intake information and obtains signatures.
- Seats patients and prepares them for dental procedures.
- Clean, sterilizes, and assembles dental instruments.
- Ensures the clinic area is neat and clean.
- Schedules appointments, reviews post-op instructions, and relays treatment provided.
- Updates dental patient records in the Dentrix database systems.
- Prepares receipts for services rendered, collects fees, and posts daily sheets.
- Completes daily oral hygiene education, hygiene packets, and front desk coverage.
- Performs weekly equipment maintenance and submits logs.
- Facilitates water tests and serves as the Designated Radiology Security Officer.
- Answers and professionally responds to telephone calls to schedule appointments and deliver information.
- Supports the section's budget, accounts, and purchasing office, and maintains supply inventory.
- Arranges for equipment repairs and orders supplies as needed.
- Supervises assigned staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or higher, and completion of an accredited dental assistant’s program.
- Six (6) years of experience in a dental office, clinic, or clinical dental chairside dental treatment, including two (2) years in a pediatric or public health dental setting.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant through completion of a dental assistant course from an accredited college or technical school.
- Certified in Dental X-Ray proficiency and Coronal Polishing and Sealant application as prescribed by the Texas Department of Health.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or higher.
- Completion of an accredited dental assistant’s program.
- Six (6) years of relevant experience.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant.
- Certified in Dental X-Ray proficiency.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

$47,828.56 - $70,786.27 annually.
