About the role

Matrix Technologies, Inc. is seeking a self-driven Senior DeltaV Automation Engineer to join our team in one of our 7 office locations (Maumee, OH; Cincinnati, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Peachtree City, GA; Overland Park, KS; Edina, MN; or Westminster, CO). The position is salaried and includes eligibility for overtime pay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Focuses on the growth and development of DeltaV throughout the company.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for DeltaV engineering standards, best practices, and design decisions.
  • Develops or improves processes, procedures, and templates associated with DeltaV, and coordinates with the Department Managers on the corresponding rollout and training.
  • Maintains expert-level competencies on the latest DeltaV trends and tools.
  • Acts as a DeltaV consultant, providing expertise as required.
  • Provides training and technical direction to address skill gaps and identifies the skills that project teams require to effectively complete an assignment.
  • Helps staff resolve technical problems and/or challenges that might arise on a project.
  • Ensures all staff utilizing DeltaV on projects have the correct tools, hardware, software, and training to adhere to latest design processes and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains quality assurance programs for DeltaV. Ensures designs incorporating DeltaV are properly reviewed and tested.
  • Routinely checks programs and applications to monitor the development of staff and the work produced.
  • Reviews and assesses quality issues and develops continual improvement measures.
  • Collaborate and assist in sales efforts for DeltaV project opportunities by acting as the primary technical point of contact for DeltaV-related client engagements.
  • Develop proposals and estimates associated with DeltaV in coordination with sales and project management.
  • Collaborates with Department Managers on hiring plans relative to skill set, location, project needs, and strategic directives.
  • Aids Department Managers in the hiring process, with a focus on evaluating the technical acumen of the candidates.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times. Adheres to both Matrix and client-established safety standards when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Engineering preferred; Other degrees with equivalent experience can be accepted.
  • Ability to architect and design a new DeltaV system.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in DeltaV with a minimum of 8 years of DeltaV experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of: Batch processing and ISA 88 methodologies, DeltaV Control Studio, Operate, Live, and System Architecture, Industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, OPC, Profibus, Modbus, etc.), Understanding of GMP documentation practices, validation lifecycle, and regulatory compliance expectations.
  • Self-starter with strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Able to travel approximately 15-25%, both locally and overnight.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Able to access required client work sites.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This employee may perform industrial field work, which could include exposure to hazardous locations, inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, noise, ladders, uneven ground, and stairs.
  • This employee may perform industrial field work, which could include exposure to a wide range of known food allergens.
