Senior Database Architect
About the role
We are seeking a Database Architect to work 100% remotely with our client in Austin, TX. The Database Architect will implement an enterprise-wide Data Catalog/MDM solution covering both structured and unstructured data, and set up and configure the semantic layer and lineage needed for AI tools discovery/enablement. The ideal candidate will bridge data engineering, governance, and AI consumption needs to ensure high-quality, well-documented data assets are available for analytics, machine learning, and generative AI use cases. A continuous process should be established to keep the catalog/MDM solution updated when changes are made and ensure data quality and consistency are maintained. This position is open to C2C (Contractor-to-Contractor) arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Implement an enterprise-wide Data Catalog/MDM solution for structured and unstructured data.
- Set up and configure the semantic layer and lineage for AI tools discovery and enablement.
- Bridge data engineering, governance, and AI consumption needs to ensure high-quality, well-documented data assets.
- Establish a continuous process to update the catalog/MDM solution and maintain data quality and consistency.
- Work across various teams to perform duties related to data architecture, modeling, and governance.
Requirements
- 7 years of experience in a relevant role.
- 4 years of experience as an Enterprise Database Architect with MDM/Data Catalog implementation.
- 4 years of experience as a Data Modeler/DBA with Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS.
- 3 years of expertise in enterprise data catalog platforms like Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or Alation.
- 3 years of experience in AI/ML technologies and semantic/context layer design and integration.
- 3 years of experience with cloud technologies and tools in AWS and Azure, including data platforms like AWS Data Lake.
- 2 years of experience in data governance, classification, and security.
- 2 years of experience with data lineage, integration, and transformation tools like Informatica or Fivetran.
- 2 years of experience in API design for metadata harvesting, automation, and event-driven integration.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience with vector databases and feature stores.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in scripting using Python.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience working with Texas state government agencies.
- Experience using GitHub.
