About the Opportunity:The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the operational management of database systems, primarily SQL Server, ensuring secure, high-performing, and reliable environments. This role supports modernization efforts, cloud migration, disaster recovery planning, and ongoing database optimization. It is a hands-on technical position that balances project deadlines and incident response while collaborating with application development, security, and data teams. 3. Responsibilities:• Install, configure, upgrade, and manage SQL Server and other database platforms.• Monitor and maintain database availability and performance.• Oversee replication, scheduled jobs, and corrective actions.• Perform regular maintenance, patching, and upgrades.• Plan system capacity for growth and performance.• Foster a collaborative culture within the department.• Manage third-party database deployments.• Use Agile and Scrum methodologies for project delivery.• Implement data protection via backup and recovery.• Analyze and optimize views, stored procedures, and queries.• Develop scripts to automate operational tasks.• Plan and execute database migrations.• Lead cloud modernization initiatives using AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database.• Ensure database security aligns with enterprise standards.• Design disaster recovery and backup strategies with RTO/RPO considerations.• Provide support to Application Development, Data Services, and Infrastructure teams.• Respond to ad hoc data requests such as audit trails and reports. 4. Requirements:• Strong experience with SQL Server and database management.• Expertise in cloud database services and migrations.• Knowledge of disaster recovery design and implementation.• Ability to monitor and optimize database performance.• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.• Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.• Capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities.• Adaptability to new technologies.• Strategic thinking aligned with business objectives. 5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:• The salary range for this role is $155,000 - $180,000 CAD, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
