About the role
We are seeking a Data Scientist to join the Experiment team at Amplitude. You will be part of a dynamic team of product managers, engineers, and designers dedicated to helping businesses improve their products through data and experimentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced statistical models to analyze and optimize user experiences.
- Conduct causal effects modeling and heterogeneous treatment effects analysis.
- Analyze experiments with social network effects, such as difference in differences and synthetic control methods.
- Utilize time series modeling and Bayesian hypothesis testing to inform decision-making.
- Understand and apply machine learning and data mining algorithms on distributed platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate and implement solutions for product analytics and user behavior modeling.
Requirements
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields with extensive research/project experience.
- Broad experience building and using data pipelines in various data warehouse environments.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- In-depth experience with Spark/Hadoop.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a focus on experimentation and digital product optimization.
- Experience working with experimentation products and a strong understanding of the experimentation space.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers as a trusted advisor.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methodologies and customers who are looking to learn from an expert on experimentation best practices.
- Passionate about innovation, strategic impact, and customer success.
Skills
- Expertise in machine learning for experimentation, including causal effects modeling, heterogeneous treatment effects analysis, and time series modeling.
- Experience with Bayesian hypothesis testing and B2B experimentation.
- Ability to work with distributed platforms to solve real-world product analytics and user behavior modeling problems.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $190,000 - $286,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission), depending on location.
