Senior Data Scientist, Core, Level 5

The Data Science and Insights team at Snap Inc. leverages massive data sets to deliver actionable insights that enhance business and product decisions. We aim to improve decision-making quality and speed across the organization to deepen our understanding of customers and products.
Responsibilities
- Apply quantitative analysis, data mining, and statistical modeling to deliver impactful, objective, and actionable data insights
- Drive informed and timely decision-making that improves and optimizes product creation, execution, and adoption
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, product marketers, and designers to identify and size up new opportunities
- Conduct machine learning or statistical analyses and build pragmatic, scalable, and statistically rigorous solutions to deliver actionable insights, accurate predictions, and effective optimizations
- Communicate best practices in quantitative analysis and develop cross-functional partnerships
- Utilize AI tools to more efficiently develop scalable data solutions, while maintaining rigorous standards for accuracy and statistical integrity
Requirements
- Expertise using data modeling skills to identify key product trends and new product opportunities
- Ability to design, implement, and track core metrics to analyze the performance of products
- Experience collaborating with engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional teams
- Understanding of Snapchat with great product sense and product understanding
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
- Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of data-driven decision-making, insights generation, and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent years of practical work experience
- 5+ years of post-Bachelor’s quantitative analysis and data science experience ; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 4+ years of post-grad quantitative analysis and data science experience
- A PhD in a related technical field + 1+ years of post-grad quantitative analysis and data science experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience using SQL or similar big data querying languages
- 5+ years of experience with programming language, such as Python or R
- 5+ years of experience with applied statistical techniques, such as inferential methods, causal methods, A/B testing, or statistical modeling techniques
- Advanced degree in applied mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics or related field
- Experience in a product-focused role at a social media, online advertising, digital media and/or mobile technology company
- Experience using machine learning and statistical analysis for building data-driven product solutions or performing methodological research

Pay
Starting pay for this position in the United States will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. The base salary ranges for this position are as follows:
- Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): $190,000 - $284,000 annually
- Zone B: $181,000 - $270,000 annually
- Zone C: $162,000 - $241,000 annually
