Senior, Data Scientist
Position Summary
As a Senior, Data Science supporting Walmart's Finance Teams, you’ll use GenAI and Data Science models to provide scalable solutions (e.g. automated GenAI insights). You will spend most of your time understanding some of Walmart U.S. Finance’s biggest problems and creating scalable data science solutions using tools such as Python and Generative AI. By embedding yourself within Finance, you will get to drive fullstack innovative solutions at scale/speed with business, product, and data science skills rapidly using AI to supercharge your productivity.
About the team
The US Data & Innovation team delivers advanced analytical and AI capabilities to support significant long-range planning and key Walmart US initiatives. The team focuses on leveraging Generative AI to enhance productivity by developing impactful AI tools for the finance organization. Operating in a fast-paced environment, the team values collaboration and strong leadership to drive meaningful business outcomes. Members apply expertise in data science, machine learning, and business communication to translate complex data into actionable insights, supporting large-scale projects and strategic decision-making across the company.
What you'll do
- Bring an "AI First" mindset to design, build, and create scalable data science and GenAI multi-agent models to solve large complex problems.
- Work closely with finance teams on cross-functional projects and understand core needs/problems we're solving.
- Leverage AI tools to supercharge your productivity at scale and wear many hats (product, data engineering, data science, software engineering) to rapidly deliver AI solutions at scale.
What you'll bring
- Designing scalable data science solutions: Use Python, GenAI, PowerBI, SQL to solve strategic and operational problems with data science solutions.
- Embedding with the business: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with Finance leaders and stakeholders to understand their workflows, terminology, and biggest problems.
- Translating business needs into data science solutions: Frame questions clearly, build models or dashboards, and translate findings into recommendations.
- Communicating clearly and often: Present technical and non-technical findings to a range of audiences, driving clarity and alignment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
- Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field.
- Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data science, machine learning, optimization models, Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R, Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch), We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
