About the role

Qnity Electronics is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team in Wilmington, DE. This role is ideal for experienced professionals looking to leverage their expertise in data science to drive innovation and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients in various departments to develop and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Contribute to new product development, continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, sales growth forecasting, supply chain optimization, and competitive analysis through text analytics.
  • Apply statistical and data science methodologies to address business, engineering, and scientific challenges.
  • Prepare and analyze data, build predictive models, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with data engineering and software development teams to extract insights from complex datasets and deploy models.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for data-driven improvements that add significant value to the organization.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or Material Science, or MA with 5+ years of industrial experience.
  • Fluent coding skills in R or Python, including data preparation, regression, and plotting.
  • Expertise in machine learning techniques such as random forest, xgboost, lasso, cross-validation, and hyperparameter tuning.
  • Basic competency with SQL database queries.
  • At least 5 years of experience applying statistics and data science to solve business, engineering, or scientific problems.
  • Ability to independently identify business opportunities and estimate their value.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and collaborate effectively with team members.

  • Formal education in statistics, including regression and hypothesis testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to stay updated on advancements in the field and improve internal business operations.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
