About the role

In this role as a Senior Data Scientist, you will collaborate with product partners and cross-functional teams to identify and apply AI/ML solutions to enhance Norstella’s pharmaceutical intelligence products. You will conduct research, implement and evaluate AI/ML algorithms, and deploy production-grade microservices in partnership with engineering and DevOps teams. As a senior-level scientist, you will take ownership of major releases, typically delivering a general availability launch within ~6 months from project start.

Our solutions leverage a diverse range of approaches, including agentic systems, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), classical machine learning, knowledge graphs, and data transformations—prioritizing problem-solving over specific technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product partners to identify new opportunities for AI/ML applications in our content and products
  • Conduct research and identify AI/ML algorithms and methods to solve specific business problems
  • Implement rigorous testing and evaluation of potential solutions; review results and proof-of-concepts with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Deploy solutions as production-grade microservices in collaboration with engineering and DevOps teams
  • Contribute to common data science platforms and data assets
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in the field and deliver periodic presentations to internal teams
  • Mentor junior team members and independently own and execute projects at a high level
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing AI/ML applications and data-driven solutions
  • Excellent knowledge of Python and core data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, LangChain)
  • Experience with LLMs, including foundation model APIs, prompt engineering, and retrieval augmented generation (RAG)
  • Substantial depth and breadth across state-of-the-art AI/ML techniques (e.g., Generative AI, NLP, Deep Learning)
  • Understanding of computer science fundamentals, computational complexity, and algorithm design
  • Ability to engineer and deploy well-architected software packages
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to independently own and execute projects holistically

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in engineering agentic AI systems
  • Knowledge of the healthcare/pharma domain and experience applying AI to healthcare data
  • Experience with AWS, especially ECS, Bedrock, SageMaker, serverless compute, and storage
  • Ability to prototype proof-of-concept webapps with full-stack familiarity
  • Expert usage of AI coding tools and workflows

Benefits

  • Medical and prescription drug benefits
  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • Dental and vision benefits
  • Basic life and AD&D insurance
  • 401k retirement plan with company match
  • Company-paid short- and long-term disability
