About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist, Agentic AI — an experienced individual contributor with deep expertise in AI/ML and a track record of turning advanced research into practical, impactful enterprise solutions. This role focuses on building, deploying, and scaling agentic AI systems, LLMs, and intelligent automation solutions that reshape how the organization operates, serves customers, and drives growth. You will collaborate directly with senior leaders on high-visibility projects to bring next-generation AI to life across products and services, while contributing to the Data Science Lab's mission of rapidly testing, scaling, and operationalizing state-of-the-art AI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of agentic AI solutions and LLM-powered applications that automate business processes and improve customer and employee experiences, with a focus on underwriting automation.
  • Drive the complete model lifecycle including data exploration and preparation, model fine-tuning, validation, deployment, and monitoring, ensuring quality, security, scalability, and fairness throughout.
  • Apply LLMs and generative AI to process and interpret unstructured data such as insurance applications, underwriter's notes, medical records, and customer interactions.
  • Develop autonomous agents, multi-step reasoning systems, and advanced NLP pipelines that integrate seamlessly with existing platforms and workflows.
  • Translate research in agentic AI, LLMs, and reinforcement learning into practical, production-ready solutions for underwriting automation, claims automation, customer servicing, and risk assessment, while adhering to AI/LLM governance and best practices.
  • Partner with data engineers and AIOps teams to ensure AI models are production-ready, scalable, and robust from prototype to enterprise deployment.
  • Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and business leaders to define use cases, design solutions, and measure ROI.
  • Contribute to the Data Science Lab by establishing repeatable frameworks for developing, testing, and deploying agentic AI solutions.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the standardization of AI/ML practices, tools, and frameworks across the organization.

Requirements

  • Education: PhD with 2+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 4+ years of experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML modeling and development, with a primary focus on agentic AI, LLMs, and NLP.
  • Deep expertise in LLMs, generative AI, agentic systems, NLP, and multi-step reasoning architectures (e.g., LangGraph, RAG, agent frameworks).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, and LangChain.
  • Demonstrated experience building, fine-tuning, and deploying LLMs and NLP solutions in production environments.
  • Strong theoretical foundations in probability, statistics, and optimization.
  • Experience with data wrangling, distributed computing, and applying parallelism to ML solutions.
  • Working knowledge of core software engineering concepts including version control (Git/GitHub), testing, logging, and CI/CD.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in insurance or related industry domains such as financial services.
  • Proven experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to data scientists.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to monitor and track performance for enterprise success.
  • Experience moving solutions from prototype to deployment in production environments.
