Senior Data Platform Engineer
About the role
Join a mission-critical project supporting federal background investigation services within a dynamic team environment. As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will develop, extend, and maintain a secure, robust data and AI platform. Your role involves building scalable data pipelines, implementing data governance best practices, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver analysis-ready datasets that meet strict compliance standards such as FedRAMP Moderate, NIST 800-171, and CUI handling.
Responsibilities
- Develop, extend, and maintain a secure, robust data and AI platform
- Build scalable data pipelines
- Implement data governance best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver analysis-ready datasets
- Work on high-stakes government projects that directly impact national security efforts and support critical government functions
Requirements
- 4+ years' experience designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade data pipelines and ETL workflows
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation and analysis
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable) and version control/CI-CD workflows
- Knowledge of data governance, cataloging tools, and orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or dbt
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a high-trust, regulated environment with minimal supervision
