Senior Data Integration Engineer
About the role
We’re different than most primary care providers. We’re rapidly expanding and we need great people to join our team. The Senior Data Integration Engineer plays a key role in coding standard and non-standard HL7 interfaces and file transfers through an interface engine, updating and correcting interface code, designing testing plans with end-users, and leading the monitoring of application data between systems to resolve errors. This position requires broad technical knowledge and a strong understanding of the healthcare industry.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to strategic and tactical planning in the data integration field by sharing insights.
- Builds extensive internal and/or external networks to facilitate achievement of objectives.
- Develops data programs that extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from the data warehouse, ensuring architecture and development follow best practices.
- Owns data quality and integrity, proactively identifying issues and coordinating fixes.
- Creates, monitors, operates, and maintains HL7 and other interfaces using a variety of data technologies.
- Collaborates with data architects, hardware/software engineers, DBAs, application vendors, and managed services to ensure enterprise data warehouse solutions are reliable, scalable, and low maintenance.
- Develops reports, dashboards, and tools using SQL, SSIS/SSRS, Power BI, and other tools.
- Serves as a liaison and role model, sharing data integration best practices with less experienced staff.
- Manages assigned projects, new hire training, and provides on-the-job training and escalation support.
- Advises on complex situations using previous experience to identify optimal solutions and recommends process improvements.
- Facilitates healthcare data exchange (e.g., ADTs, CCDs) integrating with EMR and practice management systems via interface engines.
- Consumes and processes Admit/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) messages and CCD information from external partners using interface engines.
- Partners with business stakeholders to develop dashboards, visualizations, and tailored solutions.
- Participates as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on projects for specific products, processes, or applications.
- Troubleshoots and documents interoperability issues, identifies root causes, tests, and implements solutions.
- Integrates data to/from SaaS applications with internal systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Software Engineering, Software Development, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field required. Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in data analysis, data modeling and mapping, file layouts, and/or data structures; healthcare experience is a plus.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or similar technology certification is a plus.
- Experience developing with .NET is a plus.
Skills
- Highly developed business acumen and acuity.
- Deep technical knowledge of BI practices and healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, HIPAA ANSI X12, JSON, XML, DIRECT protocol).
- Knowledge of ETL, SQL development, database maintenance, and data security.
- Experience with web-based and service-based architectures, Web Service APIs, and integration technologies.
- Working knowledge of Health Information Exchange platforms (e.g., Corepoint, InterSystems, Mirth Connect, Rhapsody).
- Proficiency with SQL scripting, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, SSIS, and automation.
- Technical skills with MySQL/MSSQL databases, scripting, Excel, pivot tables, and other technologies (e.g., AWS, XML, HTTP, SOAP, REST).
- Strong analytical, prioritization, problem-solving, project management, and planning skills.
- Excellent communication, project coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software.
- Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 10% of the time.
- Spoken and written fluency in English.
Pay
Pay range: $99,369 - $141,957 annually. Final compensation will depend on experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonuses or commissions.
