Senior Data Engineer II (Operational Business Insights – Quality Data Engineer)

About the role
Senior Data Engineer II (Operational Business Insights – Quality Data Engineer), AbbVie Inc., North Chicago, IL. Hybrid (onsite 3 days a week & 2 days work from home).
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable data solutions and platforms for efficient data processing and presentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, reporting teams, and data scientists, to understand data requirements and optimize loading processes.
- Build and optimize secure endpoints to facilitate data access, retrieval, and integration across diverse applications and source systems.
- Implement data governance, security measures, and performance optimizations to ensure data integrity and quick, accurate access.
- Provide technical leadership, stay updated with emerging technologies, and collaborate to address data integration challenges and drive innovation.
Requirements
Must possess a BS in computer, electronics or electrical engineering or related field and 5 years of work experience preparing and analyzing data and preparing insights and visualizations in a large, public company. Of the required experience, must have:
- 5 years working with Database Technologies, SQL and NoSQL databases, PostgreSQL, data quality and analytics fields;
- 5 years interpreting and analyzing data and sharing issues and insights by creating reports and dashboards for visualization in Cognos and Power BI;
- 5 years designing and implementing large data processing, ETL systems, and testing performance of data-driven products using DataStage or Informatica;
- 5 years creating, defining, and executing rigorous roadmaps for new data analytics projects and aligning data projects with organizational goals using JIRA and Confluence;
- 5 years managing project stakeholders, business teams, and practicing a business mindset to understand real business issues or requirements using tools like JIRA, SNOW, and Alation;
- 3 years of experience working in cloud technologies, terminologies, platforms, and AWS services including Redshift.
- 2 years ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and governance;
- 1 year designing and implementing large data processing, ETL systems, and testing performance of data-driven products using a combination of Databricks, PySpark, AWS Glue, and Autosys;
- 1 year developing programs for machine learning, automation, and latest analytics using Python or PySpark languages;
- 1 year designing and implementing data frameworks using Data Vault and Medallion architecture.
Alternatively, would accept a Master’s in computer, electronics or electrical engineering or related field and 3 years of work experience preparing and analyzing data and preparing insights and visualizations in a large, public company. Of the required experience, must have 3 years’ experience in each of the above areas (i) through (vi). Work experience may be gained concurrently. Will accept any combination of education, training, and work experience.

Pay
Salary Range: $167,336 - $183,500 per year.
