Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize scalable, secure data pipelines and data platform solutions using modern Microsoft cloud PaaS and SaaS technologies.
- Develop data models and curated datasets that enable advanced analytics, AI-driven applications, and intelligent search experiences.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders across Human Resources, Operations, Finance, Sales, Procurement, Legal, and other business functions to translate requirements into practical data and AI solutions.
- Implement data quality, governance, security, and performance optimization practices to ensure reliable and scalable data systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers, promoting engineering standards and best practices.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and platform design decisions to maintain a consistent and scalable enterprise data platform.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and participate in technical risk assessments to support the evolution of the organization’s data and AI capabilities.
- Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture through strong communication, ownership, and teamwork.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or data platform architecture.
- Proficiency in Python (or equivalent programming language) for building and maintaining data pipelines, automation, and data processing workflows.
- Proficiency in SQL for querying, transformation, and performance tuning across relational and analytical data stores.
- Experience designing scalable enterprise data architectures, including lakehouse, warehouse, medallion, and domain-oriented data platform patterns.
- Experience implementing data quality, lineage, metadata management, and governance practices across enterprise data platforms.
- Experience managing and optimizing cloud-based data platforms, including infrastructure, storage, compute, monitoring, and cost management.
- Strong ability to evaluate source systems, integration approaches, and data platform designs to align with business and technical requirements.
- Familiarity with data cataloging, data stewardship, access controls, and regulatory compliance considerations.
- Understanding data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and modern data integration patterns.
- Experience building enterprise data solutions on Microsoft Azure, with strong hands-on experience in Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2).
- Working knowledge of Power BI for reporting and analytics is preferred.
- Exposure to additional Azure data services such as Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies is considered an asset.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tools such as GitHub or Azure DevOps.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications and data sources using APIs, web services, event-driven architectures, or other modern integration patterns.
- Strong knowledge of dimensional data modeling including fact and dimension tables and star or snowflake schemas.
- Working knowledge of networking and security fundamentals, including internet protocols, firewalls, and proxy configurations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Experience using collaboration and project tracking tools such as Jira or Microsoft Project.
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Bilingual in English/French or English/German is considered an asset but not required.
Qualifications
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed data processing frameworks.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled data solutions including Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Foundry, Cognitive Services, or similar technologies.
- Exposure to additional Azure services such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Power Apps, and Azure API Management or equivalent services, with the ability to evaluate and integrate platform capabilities as needed.
- Experience delivering technical training, documentation, or mentorship related to data and analytics tools.
- Exposure to data platform modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement practices such as Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence frameworks.
- Experience supporting enterprise collaboration platforms such as SharePoint, including governance and knowledge management models.
