Senior Data Engineer (Data Modernization) (contract)

Location: Charlotte, NC • Duration: 12 months • Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

About the role

In this contingent resource assignment, you will consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Specialty Software Engineering. You will review and analyze multi-faceted, larger-scale, or longer-term challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented elements. You will contribute to resolving complex situations with a solid understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements to meet deliverables. You will strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret the Data Modernization strategy across impacted disciplines and develop and implement best-of-class data solutions.
• Support formalization of business requirements, translate business requirements into detailed technical requirements, and participate in Agile-based workstreams using Jira.
• Create more capacity from an Agile perspective.

Requirements

• Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of work, consulting, training, military experience, or education.
• Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Skills

• Relational DB (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, or others)
• Micro-service architectures
• DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, automation deployment toolkits)
• Developing RESTful APIs
• Agile development environment
• Data engineering and/or full-stack development (e.g., Pandas – Python module, Polars, Torch)
• Programming experience
• Building distributed applications
• Test-Driven Development (TDD) environment (nice to have)
• Familiarity with capital markets domain, specifically in risk disciplines such as Market and Counterparty Credit Risk (strongly desired)
• Knowledge and understanding of derivative products, risk management, and data modeling of financial products (strongly desired)
• GenAI and Agentic AI (very nice to have)
