About the role

The Senior Data Center Construction Manager at Switch is responsible for delivering large-scale, mission-critical construction projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role ensures that Switch data center facilities are built to the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead construction execution for large-scale data center projects from pre-construction through completion and turnover.
  • Establish and enforce a strong safety culture across active job sites.
  • Conduct regular safety walks and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serve as the primary on-site leader for contractors and trade partners.
  • Cook up and manage detailed project schedules, milestones, and recovery plans.
  • Own project budget performance, including cost tracking, forecasting, and change management.
  • Partner with cost controls to monitor financial performance and identify cost savings opportunities.
  • Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Resolve field issues to protect schedule, cost, and quality outcomes.
  • Oversee permitting and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Plan site logistics, equipment delivery, and coordination with general contractors and building teams.
  • Prepare and deliver executive updates covering safety, schedule, cost, and risk exposure.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of construction management experience.
  • Experience delivering large-scale data center or other critical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and IT systems within mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and contractor performance.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience reviewing CAD drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent complex projects.

  • Communicate clearly and directly with contractors, peers, and leadership.

  • Collaborate across teams while maintaining ownership of outcomes.
