Job Summary

The Senior Data Architect defines and governs data architecture standards, master data strategy, and data modeling practices that underpin mSupply’s enterprise data platform. This role is the authoritative voice on how data is structured, integrated, governed, and consumed, ensuring architectural coherence as the company scales through organic growth and acquisitions. The platform is built on Microsoft Fabric, dbt, and Power BI.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and implementation of the enterprise Product MDM solution, defining the golden record structure, match key strategy, entity resolution rules, and survivorship logic across multiple source systems.

  • Define and maintain enterprise data architecture standards, reference models, and design patterns for data integration, modeling, and master data governance.

  • Design canonical data models for master data domains (product, customer, supplier, location), ensuring consistency, extensibility, and alignment with business semantics.

  • Establish data quality rules, validation frameworks, and stewardship workflows for master data, including probabilistic matching, deduplication, and human-in-the-loop review processes.

  • Partner with Data Engineering to translate architectural designs into pipeline patterns, dbt model structures, and medallion architecture layer definitions (Bronze, Silver, Gold).

  • Define and enforce data contracts between source systems and the data platform, specifying schema expectations, quality thresholds, and change management protocols.

  • Support acquisition data onboarding by defining repeatable patterns for mapping, profiling, and integrating new source systems into the enterprise data model.

  • Drive data governance maturity including data cataloging, lineage documentation, classification standards, and stewardship role definitions.

  • Communicate architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and roadmap recommendations to senior leadership in clear, business-relevant terms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or data management roles, with at least 3 years focused on data modeling and architectural governance.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing MDM solutions, including entity resolution, match/merge logic, and data stewardship workflows.

  • Deep expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), dimensional modeling, and enterprise data integration patterns.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with modern data transformation tools such as dbt.

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and lakehouse or data warehouse architectures.

  • Proven ability to communicate architectural decisions and tradeoffs to both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Azure Data Factory.

  • Familiarity with probabilistic matching tools or frameworks (Splink, Informatica MDM, Reltio, or similar).

  • Experience integrating data across multiple ERP systems (Eclipse, Business Central, or similar) in a multi-business-unit environment.

  • Background in wholesale distribution, supply chain, HVAC, plumbing, or related B2B sectors.

  • Experience or demonstrated ability using AI-powered tools (e.g., code assistants, LLMs, AI-augmented workflows) to accelerate work and improve outcomes.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
