About the role
The Senior Operations Research Analyst supports the Air National Guard Plans, Programs and Requirements Directorate (NGB/A8), enabling a Guard force that is capable and sustainable as a cost-effective element of national security.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage scalable data pipelines, enterprise data warehouses, and architecture to support advanced analytics and operations research.
- Perform a broad range of operations research analysis functions to examine unique problems through creativity, innovative techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies.
- Develop and maintain data models, data integration frameworks, and enterprise data architecture to ensure optimal data quality, reliability, and security.
- Attend meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars.
- Maintain proficiency through participation in technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, research, and training.
- Research, write, and present complex data analysis results in an understandable format for senior leaders and decision makers.
- Develop technical data visualization products in the form of reports, informational graphics, and/or briefings.
- Inform Air National Guard studies, analysis, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate across directorates to synchronize datasets and reporting, ensuring seamless data interoperability and establishing robust data governance.
Requirements
- Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Analytics, Statistics, Math, or Economics
- Experience working in the Department of Defense environment, preferably the Air Force or National Guard
- Highly proficient in computational programming languages such as Python, SQL, or related languages, with strong experience in developing and maintaining robust ETL/ELT pipelines
- Proven experience designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable enterprise data architectures, data lakes, and cloud-based data environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Proficiency with advanced database management, relational/non-relational databases, and big data processing technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, PostgreSQL)
- Highly proficient in data visualization tools such as Plotly, PowerBI, Tableau, or related tools
- Understanding of Air National Guard functions and missions under Title 10 and Title 32
