About the role
The NYC Department of Finance (DOF) administers the city’s tax revenue laws fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service. DOF’s Sheriff’s Office enforces court mandates, serves orders of protection, warrants, decrees, and conducts property seizures. The Sheriff’s Office also investigates real property fraud, tax crimes, and trafficking of illegal and untaxed tobacco products and synthetic narcotics, and monitors defendants for electronic monitoring.
The Sheriff’s Office seeks an organized, reliable, and motivated Senior Customer Service Representative to perform administrative duties in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) unit, specifically supporting the Operation Padlock to Protect enforcement program.
Responsibilities
- Perform difficult and specialized administrative work.
- Coordinate and manage records, including data entry, preparation, and transfer of case files, evidence documents, and inspection documentation.
- Prepare and execute mailings for respondents; track correspondence to ensure compliance.
- Maintain and monitor tracking systems for correspondence.
- Compile data and update databases.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and other communications related to Operation Padlock to Protect.
- Monitor program budgets.
- Prepare and maintain financial summaries and reports.
- Process paperwork, orders, and payment requests in a timely manner for enforcement operations.
Requirements
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year of administrative supervisory experience; or
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year of administrative supervisory experience; or
Education and/or experience equivalent to the above. All candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described above. Education above the high school level may substitute for general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience) at a rate of 30 semester credits for 6 months of experience, up to a maximum of 3 years.
Preferred Skills
- At least two years of experience performing administrative duties.
- General mathematical skills, specifically for manual calculations and pro-rating amounts.
- Ability to adapt to a fluid work environment and changing priorities.
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with PowerPoint, SAS, or other data analytics programs is a plus.
- Experience preparing reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work professionally with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work productively and independently.

Pay
$68,209.00 – $78,440.00
