Job Duties

Dive into the world of criminal justice by entering and interpreting vital statistical, financial, and technical data into our advanced computer systems, empowering our team to analyze and categorize crucial information.

Play a key role in maintaining accurate offender records by reviewing and updating information from various documents, using standardized codes, and making necessary corrections.

Be at the heart of investigations by sending and receiving critical information and messages through various information centers and providing clear explanations to non-equipment users.

Become the go-to expert by responding to inquiries from authorized personnel about our information systems, ensuring compliance with criminal justice standards.

Safeguard confidential information, maintain meticulous dissemination records, complete validation reports, and keep our office equipment running smoothly with routine maintenance.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; possession of a high school diploma or equivalent may be credited as one year of the required work experience.
  • Must possess two years of clerical or secretarial work experience.
  • Must have vocational/technical training in the area of data processing or secretarial science, or any college coursework from an accredited institution. This can substitute for the required experience at the rate of 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or 720 classroom hours for each year of the required experience.

Additional Information

  • Background Screening Requirement: The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
  • Employment Eligibility: The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) only hires U.S. citizens and those authorized to work in the U.S. FDC uses E-Verify to confirm an employee’s eligibility to work after completing the I-9 form.
  • Veterans’ Preference: Pursuant to Chapter 295, Florida Statutes, candidates eligible for Veterans’ Preference will receive preference in employment for Career Service vacancies and are encouraged to apply.
