Senior Credit Portfolio Analyst

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for conducting key loan monitoring activities, including covenant testing, financial statement analysis, and risk assessment across credit relationships—particularly more complex portfolios—to proactively identify any signs of credit deterioration or declines in borrower performance and protect the bank’s interests and strengthen outcomes.

Job Duties

  • Performs timely, accurate covenant testing, escalates breaches to ensure appropriate response/actions and performs red flag review and risk rating validation generally for more complex credit relationships.
  • Spreads and analyzes financial statements to identify trends, ratios and overall financial performance.
  • Prepares, mails and tracks responses for various communications with borrowers; including but not limited to Waiver Letters and Reservation of Rights Letters.
  • Reviews collected financial statements for compliance with executed loan documents and approves with Document Manager for upload to ImageCentre.
  • Tracks, tests and manages borrowing base requirements, including necessary updates to IBS, and escalates as applicable.
  • Will be responsible for the preparation of annual shelf reviews.
  • Assists with examiner, audit and loan review requests.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to Credit Portfolio Analysts.
  • Complies with established processes, quality standards and responsiveness expectations.
  • Adheres to bank's policies and procedures and complies with regulatory requirements.
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Job Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in commercial credit analysis or underwriting.
  • Analytically minded - ability to evaluate financial statements, tax returns, interpret results and reach conclusions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to understand and apply bank’s credit policy.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable banking laws, regulatory requirements and credit/risk management practices.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft suite of products, especially excel.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with a specialization in accounting, finance or business operations required.
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in commercial credit analysis or underwriting.
  • Some travel may be required; must have a valid driver's license for travel throughout Peoples Bank footprint of offices.
