Senior Credit Officer Structured Credit - Director
Deutsche Bank's Chief Risk Office has Group-wide responsibility for the management and control of all credit, market, operational, enterprise, and liquidity risks. The team is responsible for the continual development of risk measurement methods, frameworks, and fostering a strong risk culture across the bank. Deutsche Bank’s Wealth Management (WM) business is one of the largest wealth managers worldwide, offering clients a broad range of traditional and alternative investment solutions, as well as comprehensive wealth management advice.
About the Role
As a Senior Credit Officer, you will manage a portfolio primarily comprising Structured credit transactions (including lending against private equity, illiquid shares, unsecured loans, etc.) and Commercial Real Estate transactions. You will review and approve transactions booked under the WM business in the U.S. and support the growth of WM’s lending book by managing risk on a portfolio of WM counterparties. This includes large and complex structured loans, margin lending, and commercial real estate deals.
Responsibilities
- Interface directly with front office staff across the WM business division on credit approvals, requirements, and relationship matters; liaise with clients where required.
- Work with the Lending team (1st line of defense) and Relationship Managers to manage risk and find optimal solutions, especially for challenging requests.
- Provide timely, transparent communication on decision-making, including risk analysis and approval conditions, to key stakeholders.
- Robustly monitor the portfolio to ensure risks are timely identified, staying aware of global, regional, and local market events and their potential impact.
- Ensure portfolio quality remains satisfactory, risk concentrations and limits comply with defined risk appetites, policies, and regulations.
- Work with internal and external auditors to ensure smooth audit progress and resolve any issues raised promptly.
- Support ad hoc regional or global projects as assigned.
- Maintain disciplined portfolio management, ensuring trades are properly booked, covenants monitored, credit terms documented, and risk reporting systems are accurate.

- Provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior and senior team members, fostering professional growth in commercial real estate fundamentals.
- Set clear objectives and strategic priorities for the team, aligning with departmental and bank-wide goals.
- Drive continuous improvement in team processes, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
Requirements
- Extensive relevant work experience in corporate credit and structured finance within major international financial institutions.
- Proficiency in cash flow-based assessment and equity valuation.
- Familiarity with legal documentation and risk issues, including credit-mitigating features.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to write concise reports.
- Open mindset and respect for challenging views from different stakeholders.

Qualifications
Preferred educational qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Finance, or MBA.

Pay
The salary range for this position in New York City is $170,000 to $308,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location, and other qualifications. The posted range does not include incentive compensation or other remuneration.
