About the role

The Senior Credentialing Specialist plays a crucial role in coordinating the operational processes and ongoing credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance functions of the Medical Staff Administration Department. They serve as a key liaison between senior management and the medical staff, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and follow up on credentialing and privileging applications
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and accrediting/regulatory standards
  • Meet with management to the Credentials Committee
  • Mentor other credentialing specialists and provide support as needed

Requirements

Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the field, including credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance. Must demonstrate strong customer service skills, discretion, and judgment in handling confidential information. Must have strong analytical, critical thinking, organizational, and project management skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years in the overall field with expertise in specific areas
  • Current NAMSS certification as CPCS and/or CPMSM
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience/training
  • Advanced knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, NCQA, and Title 22 accreditation standards and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in medical staff credentialing and privileging processes and procedures
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to complete job responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy under minimum supervision

Skills

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, knowledge of FPPE/proctoring processes and procedures, and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
