Senior Counsel, Media Distribution

For our client, a leader in the Hospitality & Recreation space, we are seeking a Senior Counsel, Media Distribution to provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management.

About the role

You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a hospitality and recreation environment.

Location: New York, NY – US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Structure, draft, and negotiate distribution agreements with MVPDs and streaming platforms
• Draft and structure various legal documents supporting content distribution
• Provide strategic guidance on current agreements and policies
• Track and interpret distribution agreement terms as a legal knowledge source
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure proper application of distribution terms
• Develop and maintain standardized templates for efficiency
• Stay informed of industry trends and regulatory developments
• Manage outside counsel when necessary

Requirements

• Minimum of eight years of experience in media, sports or entertainment transactional law
• Strong understanding of contracts, intellectual property, and corporate law
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
• Advanced skills in drafting, negotiating, and problem-solving
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments with multiple stakeholders
• Outstanding organizational and project management skills
• Tact, diplomacy, and superior interpersonal skills
• Active NY State bar membership in good standing

Pay

$235,000 – $265,000 annually
