Senior Counsel - Employment and Labor Law
Job Summary
The Senior Counsel will build and lead the employment law function at StubHub, a global marketplace operating in 195 countries. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and the General Counsel, this role advises the executive team and board on employment-related risks, manages litigation, and builds policies and compliance infrastructure.

StubHub is a public company with a global footprint, requiring robust employment practices. The Senior Counsel will advise on all employment and labor matters, manage litigation, and design policies and compliance programs to ensure legal and ethical practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory & Leadership
Advise the executive team and, as needed, the Board on employment-related risk, litigation trends, and regulatory developments.
Manage end-to-end employment litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.
Lead workplace investigations into harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and misconduct allegations.
Partner with Trust & Safety, Security, and HR Business Partners on sensitive terminations, reductions in force, and executive separations.
Design, implement, and update global employment policies, handbooks, and codes of conduct.
Monitor and operationalize compliance with wage-and-hour laws, leave laws, and pay transparency requirements.
Build and maintain a global employment law compliance calendar and audit program.
Provide guidance on labor relations strategy, including union avoidance and collective bargaining exposure.
Support M&A, expansion, and organizational restructuring with employment law diligence and integration planning.
Enablement
Design and deliver manager and employee training on harassment prevention, discrimination, performance management, and documentation best practices.
Champion the use of AI-assisted tools for policy drafting, contract review, and matter tracking.
Collaborate with People Operations to ensure employment policies are operationalized in the HRIS and applied consistently across geographies.
Support the CLO and Compliance team on SEC and NYSE disclosure obligations.
Requirements
J.D. and active bar membership in good standing (California or New York bar preferred; additional state admission a plus)
10+ years of employment and labor law experience, including significant time at a law firm and in-house, ideally at a technology company, marketplace, or global consumer business
Experience leading an employment law function or team, including managing outside counsel relationships and litigation portfolios
Substantive expertise across wage-and-hour law, discrimination and harassment law, leave and accommodation law, labor relations, and workforce classification
Experience advising a public company or preparing a company for public-company employment law standards
Comfortable operating with both strategic altitude and hands-on execution
Sound, practical judgment and excellent communication skills
High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive, confidential workforce matters
