About the role

The Dixon Group is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team in Chestertown, MD. This role is responsible for determining and implementing cost accounting procedures and methods, preparing and analyzing cost reports, and examining and reviewing unusual cost records.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze production costs, variances, and performance against targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain accuracy and timeliness of financial reports related to cost accounting.
  • Present financial information to management, highlighting key performance indicators.
  • Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in cost accounting functions.
  • Work closely with other departments to streamline financial processes.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits.
  • Assist in the development of cost estimates for new products or services.
  • Evaluate the impact of cost changes on overall business profitability.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as operations and procurement to gather relevant information.
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; 4–7 years of progressive experience in cost accounting.
  • Proven experience in cost accounting, preferably in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting/ERP software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in standard costing.
  • Mechanical engineering or multi-entity experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Pay

$80,000 - $100,000 per year

Schedule

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
