About the Role

As Senior Corporate Accountant, you will play an important role in helping maintain the financial foundation that supports NearU’s continued growth. You’ll work closely with the Corporate Controller and Finance team to support the monthly close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, analysis, internal controls, and ongoing process improvements. You’ll be someone the team can rely on to dig into the details, identify what doesn’t look right, understand the “why” behind the numbers, and help find solutions. As NearU continues to grow, our processes and systems will continue to evolve. Responsibilities

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with general ledger accounting activities.
  • Support timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial activity and investigate unusual transactions, discrepancies, or variances.
  • Research accounting issues and help develop appropriate resolutions.
  • Assist with maintaining and strengthening internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, improve, and standardize accounting processes.
  • Partner with the Corporate Controller on accounting projects, reporting initiatives, and other business priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance and other departments to obtain information and resolve issues.
  • Assist with special projects as NearU continues to expand and evolve.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Bring forward ideas that can make the Finance function more efficient and effective.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Several years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial close processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems and strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred.
