About the role
The Senior Cook position at Los Angeles County is responsible for supervising and leading the work of food service staff and inmate workers. Key responsibilities include overseeing meal facilities, preparing and cooking meals, instructing on health and safety regulations, ensuring quality assurance, coordinating with other kitchen units, and maintaining cleanliness.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Completion of a Culinary Arts certificate program from an accredited college (Option A)
- Journey level experience in quantity food preparation and cooking (Option B)
- A valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation method
Qualifications
- Desirable qualifications include associate or bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or a related field, full-time work experience in food service, and supervisory experience.
Skills
Essential skills include proficiency in standard cooking techniques, ability to follow health and safety regulations, and strong organizational and communication abilities.
