Senior Controls Manufacturing Engineer
This role is based at our Orchard Park, NY facility. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 - $126,000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
About the role
Key contributor to the overall success of the production operation. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer-Controls will design and maintain electrical and semi-automated manufacturing systems, troubleshoot equipment, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet rigorous Aerospace industry requirements. This includes PLC/HMI programming and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Provide production support as needed.
- Troubleshoot, determine root cause, and repair production equipment as it pertains to control systems in conjunction with Maintenance.
- Ensure Eaton safety policies/standards are practiced in production through proper control systems.
- Support continuous improvement activities through factory cost-out, Rapid Improvement Events, and other lean six sigma tools.
- Support Engineering change orders, design reviews, and update processes where needed.
- Identify CAPEX items including large-scale, multi-department/cell items, complete process through local and division approval, and implementation.
- Design, develop, and implement PLC and HMI solutions using Rockwell applications.
- Define, request, and coordinate the purchase of electrical materials, components, equipment, and support services for the construction, assembly, and conditioning of prototype parts, equipment, and safety systems.
- Design and develop SCADA systems for MES.
- Develop and maintain electrical circuit drawings, various wiring diagrams, and power system schematics to document system design.
- Develop and maintain documentation for control systems.
- Perform system commissioning and start-up.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for control systems.
- Perform system upgrades and modifications to existing equipment.
- Provide technical support and training for control systems to the Manufacturing Engineering team and operations, which includes proper setup, function, and control of equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 3 years of PLC programming/troubleshooting and HMI configuration experience and system development.
- No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Orchard Park, NY to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

- LabVIEW programming.
- Universal Robots/Fanuc/ABB experience.
- 5 years of PLC programming/troubleshooting with Allen Bradley.
- SQL, Visual Basic, C#, and/or Python experience.
- AutoCAD Electrical.

- High Pressure Gas System Experience.
- Robotic Welding Experience.
- Test and Measurement Experience.
- Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU, and Serial Communication experience.
