About the role
Wunderlich-Malec Engineering (WM) is a 100% employee-owned ESOP and one of the largest and most well-established engineering companies in the United States. This position is geared towards a systems integrator with experience programming Rockwell / Allen Bradley control systems and Ignition or GE SCADA applications. The role involves systems integration project requirements including PLC programming, HMI programming, SCADA development, instrumentation, check-out support, and start-up assistance.
This position is based in our Tigard, OR office and is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization, including H-1B sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Develops control logic software and user interface applications.
- Assists with initial start-up and debug of integrated systems and the development of system documentation.
- Works on automation and control system integration projects for clients in industries such as semiconductor, pulp and paper, food and beverage, etc.
- Works well with others and is self-directed with only general supervision.
- Operates in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocols/requirements.
- Understands piping and instrument diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, one-line drawings, loop sheets, databases, and vendor manuals.
- Interprets and utilizes appropriate ISA standards and practices.
- Acts as technical lead on projects and guides lower-level engineers and technicians.
- Handles general administration such as paperwork, copying, printing, faxing, and using a computer.
Requirements
- BSEE or BS in Controls Engineering is preferred. An AA in Engineering Technology or equivalent with equivalent experience may be substituted.
- Five to ten years of experience in the following areas is preferred:
- In-depth understanding of control systems, components, ladder logic programming, SCADA programming, and their applications.
- PLC programming of Allen Bradley PLCs (Rockwell 5, 500, 5000, Device Net, Point I/O; additional experience in GE or other PLC platforms is a plus).
- VFD programming (preferably Allen-Bradley or ABB VFDs).
- Ignition or GE Cimplicity SCADA systems (Python and SQL scripting experience is a plus).
- Development of sequence of operations, functional acceptance, and operational acceptance documentation.
- PID loop tuning (open and closed loops).
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 25% to job sites.
