About the role
The Senior Controller is responsible for leading the financial operations of Goose Island Beer Company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and timely month-end close. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, product costing, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable, and KPI reporting while providing strategic financial insights to senior leadership. The position also supports audit compliance, ERP system integrity, and continuous process improvements, while managing and developing a Senior Accountant to drive operational excellence and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of Goose Island Beer Company’s financial reporting.
- Perform Balance Sheet Reconciliations with sufficient detail and backup to verify account balances.
- Lead the Goose Island Beer Company’s monthly financial close process to meet all month-end objectives and timelines.
- Develop product costing for innovation products and monitor actual production costs for profitability.
- Monitor the Accounts Payable function to verify invoices are being processed and coded correctly and vendors are being paid.
- Lead Goose Island Beer Company’s budgeting process and monitor financial performance versus budget.
- Continually create forecasts for expected financial performance compared to budget.
- Develop and report various Key Performance Indicator scorecards and trackers that track performance at the brewery and drive continued efficiencies.
- Report and deliver monthly financial reporting package to Goose Island Beer Company’s senior leadership team.
- Support federal, state, or internal audits to ensure compliance and verify financial information.
- Provide support for ERP system (SAP Business One/OBeer) and ensure purchasing, production, and shipments are processed correctly.
- Provide guidance and support for one direct report (Senior Accountant).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Highly proficient with Excel.
- Previous experience in alcohol industry or CPG is preferred.

$120,000 - $133,000, bonus and long-term incentive eligible
