Senior Control-M Engineer

Senior Control-M Engineer | Location: Remote | Contract | Hourly Pay Range $65-$72 A senior-level Control-M engineer with extensive experience in enterprise workload automation and scheduling infrastructure. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient, secure, and automated job scheduling systems across multi-site environments, supporting modernization initiatives and 24x7 production operations. Key Responsibilities Designs, installs, configures, upgrades, and patches Control-M Servers and Agents across multi-site environments, including on-premises and co-located data centers.Develops and maintains job scheduling workflows, workload orchestration, and security configurations to ensure optimal system performance.Conducts operational health checks, monitors system performance, and ensures compliance with enterprise standards and security policies.Analyzes system logic, revises documentation, and updates technical standards to support system reliability and efficiency.Troubleshoots and resolves complex hardware, software, OS, and network issues impacting scheduling infrastructure.Executes change and problem management processes, including deploying new agents and environment setup, following organizational IT policies.Documents issues, solutions, and workarounds in internal knowledge bases to facilitate ongoing support and knowledge sharing.Provides on-call support to ensure continuous 24x7 scheduling operations.Supports automation and modernization efforts by integrating APIs, adopting jobs-as-code, and enhancing multi-environment orchestration.Leads technical projects, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and trains staff on Control-M tools and standards.Reports platform issues, resiliency risks, and solution gaps to management, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.6–9+ years of relevant experience in IT engineering, infrastructure operations, or workload automation.Deep expertise in Control-M administration, including server and agent setup, job workflow design, user security, and patch management.Hands-on experience with Control-M multi-environment orchestration (on-premises and co-located sites).Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows Server administration.Shell scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell) and log analysis capabilities.SQL skills with basic database troubleshooting (PostgreSQL or Oracle).Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, ports, and firewall configuration.Experience with Control-M Configuration Manager and scheduling functions.Familiarity with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira) and monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace).Strong documentation, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Advanced scripting skills (Python), CI/CD pipeline experience (Git), or infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform).Cloud platform exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP) or Control-M cloud deployments.Security integration experience (SIEM tools, SSL, Venafi).Experience with Agile, SAFe, or scaled enterprise delivery frameworks.ITIL Foundation or Control-M certification.
