About the role

The Valuation team at Forvis Mazars, LLP delivers independent, technically sound valuations tailored to each client's unique needs. They provide accurate, defensible valuations aligned with regulatory standards, supporting financial and tax reporting, estate planning, and business transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analyses and valuations of businesses, equity and debt securities, intangible assets, partnership interests, derivatives, options, warrants, private credit instruments, and other illiquid investments for financial reporting, tax compliance, transaction support, and strategic decision-making purposes.
  • Build, update, and evaluate complex valuation and financial models utilizing methodologies such as discounted cash flow (DCF), guideline public company analyses, precedent transactions, market multiples, option pricing models, Monte Carlo simulations, and other advanced valuation techniques.
  • Assess financial statements, operating results, historical and projected cash flows, business forecasts, management assumptions, strategic plans, and market benchmark data to develop supportable valuation conclusions and identify key drivers of value.
  • Conduct detailed research on industries, markets, economic conditions, transactions, and comparable companies, including analysis of peer performance, merger and acquisition activity, competitive positioning, and overall market trends.
  • Develop clear and concise valuation reports, technical memoranda, client presentations, proposals, schedules, and other supporting materials that communicate analyses, methodologies, and conclusions effectively.
  • Engage with clients and management teams through interviews, diligence sessions, and discussions to obtain relevant information, evaluate key assumptions, and present valuation findings and recommendations.
  • Oversee multiple valuation engagements and projects concurrently by managing priorities, coordinating resources, monitoring deliverables, and maintaining project timelines.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to associates, interns, and other junior professionals by offering technical guidance, reviewing work products, supporting professional development, and coaching team members on valuation concepts and project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of business valuation-related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Current and valid professional business credential(s), including one or more of the following: ASA/AM, CPA/ABV, CVA, AVA, or CFA.
  • Experience with online databases, particularly Capital IQ Pro (formerly SNL Financial), and strong skills in company-specific, industry, and economic research

Pay

New York City: $94,100 - $156,800
New Jersey: $94,100 - $156,800
Virginia: $78,400 - $130,600
